Born to Ritu, an over-protective woman, Ruca grew up with little freedom, finding solace in tomes that wove the stories of adventurers and heroes. Driven to find purpose and do something for his warren, Ruca was adamant he become a wood-warder despite his mother's protests. The Echo awoke during Ruca’s training, startling him and causing an accident that would leave him permanently injured and unable to pursue the life of a warder. Ashamed of his failure, Ruca fled the woods and all he had known, a rash decision made in his youth that he could never take back, leaving his connection with the Green Word severed.
                  Frightened, alone, yet eager to explore the world, he found himself entangled in the work of the Scions. The manipulation of aether came easy to Ruca and he grew fond of healing magicks, albeit for more selfish reasons.
                  With the loss of friends and loved ones, and the traumatic experiences endured to save the star he calls home, a bitterness has wormed its way into the viera's heart. Corrupted by the power bestowed upon him with the Echo and as the Warrior of Light, Ruca struggles to see others as his equals and treats them as such. With his healing abilities abandoned, the mage now only harness his staff with the intent to harm.
